Life in Games: Top 50 Games

Some big changes in this update!  Dominant Species moves into the top 10 all the way up from the 20’s.  There is also a brand new entry on the list, Heroes Wanted from Travis R. Chance and Nick Little.  Their original and highly re-playable game about aspiring superheroes makes a strong debut on the list in 30th position!  Another new addition to the list is an old friend that reminiscing about the old days reminded me just how much I love it, Diplomacy.  Want to take satisfaction in destroying your enemies?  Diplomacy is your game.  Want to turn your friends into your enemies, and then destroy them?  Diplomacy is definitely your game!  Backstabbing since 1959, and it is still going strong!

The biggest fall in this update is for Game of Thrones.  I love the show, the books, and to be honest the game as well, but the fact that the lannisters are nigh unplayable and that it really only shines with six players are problems that cannot be overlooked.  It does a terrific job capturing the theme and there truly are opportunities for great tactical and strategic moves, unless you are the Lannisters.  Like Ned Stark’s honor, this imbalance holds it back from true greatness!

Do you agree or disagree with my rankings?  Tell me so in the comments, as I would love to hear your opinions and recommendations.  Who knows, you might just convince me and I will give you credit for the change!
